Proposals for the VLT Interferometer

The ESO Calls for Proposals are issued every semester for observations with the VLT Interferometer and the AMBER and MIDI instruments. The description of the offered configurations is usually available at the beginning of March and September, with deadlines typically around the 1st April and 1st October every year, for observations six months later.

The MIDI 2-telescopes mid-infrared beam combiner provides two spectral resolutions (R=30 and R=230) over the N band (8 to 13 microns). The sensitivity limit of this instrument is aproximately 1 Jy at 12 microns. A detailed description of the MIDI instrument can be found on the MIDI instrument home page at ESO. The offered configurations can be found in the ESO Call for Proposal for the current period at this location.
The AMBER 3-telescopes near-infrared beam combiner provides three spectral resolutions over the JHK bands (R=35, R=1500 and R=12000). A detailed description of AMBER can be found on the AMBER instrument home page at ESO. The offered configurations can be found in the ESO Call for Proposal for the current period at this location.

The JMMC is offering the observation preparation tool ASPRO, and complete data processing packages for MIDI and AMBER. For questions about this software, please contact the JMMC User Support.
