Beta releases
You can test some applications which provides one beta release. In general, prefer the use of JavaWeb Start releases but JAR packages also are available for download. You can get support, but use at your own risk.
Java programs
Java 1.6 is currently the minimum version required by JMMC applications.
We encourage our users to upgrade to Java 1.7.
Detailled Java installation and configuration
advices for your platform.
The JMMC chooses to distribute its Java software using the Java WebStart technology.
It automatically checks for available software updates and bring you the last versions.
This software is usually associated to the jnlp file extension.
Usually on first launch, your system proposes to install the software as one
standalone application by creating one shortcut. If you miss your chance
or erase the shortcut, you can clean your java cache and restart the
application from the web page, then you should be prompted to give the
location of the new application shortcut.
As an alternative if this mechanism does not work onto your system, you can download the same application as one jar file, but without the automatic software update advantage. Then you should be able to launch the application :
- by double-clicking the downloaded file;
- through the following command line:
java -jar yourPath/downloadedFile.jar
To define the memory usage of the java program, your can use following option :
- -Xms<size> to set initial Java heap size
- -Xmx<size> to set maximum Java heap size
